Metal Sealant

Industrial Strength Sealant

429 S.T.U.F. was originally developed as a metal sealer capable of penetrating into microscopic pores and locking itself onto the surface through expansion which occurs during curing.

This unique property of 429 S.T.U.F. also makes it an excellent sealer for concrete and wood and is being used in numerous high-traffic environments.

429 S.T.U.F., when applied to masonry, wood, or metal, penetrates into the pores and utilizes moisture from the air to cure. During this curing process, 429 S.T.U.F. expands and locks into the pores creating a true impenetrable seal. It is this type of seal that sets 429 S.T.U.F. apart from the competition.

Epoxies, Polyurethanes, and specialty coatings tend to leave microscopic channels between the coating and the surface being coated. Microscopic channels can also be found in the sealer itself which allow moisture and contaminants to penetrate to the original surface causing deterioration of the “sealed surface”.

  • Corrosion on Metal and Steel
    Time-Tested Performance

The definition of corrosion is simply the partial or complete wearing away, dissolving or softening of any substance by chemical or electrochemical reaction with its environment. In your industry there may be one or more types of corrosion at work:

    1. Crevice Corrosion
a localized corrosion situated in existing crevices like scratches, scoring, etc.
    2. Pitting Corrosion
extreme case of localized corrosion attack which results in creation of cavities or pits on the substance.
    3. Fretting Corrosion
accelerated form of corrosion where two surfaces contact each other under motion - as in heavy machinery, hinges, etc.
    4. Erosion Corrosion
accelerated form of corrosion when corrosive fluids run across the metal surface. (Common in fertilizer and chemical storage.)
    5. Cavitation Corrosion
corrosion created when metal collapses and results in breaking of protective surface membrane on metal.
    6. Stress Corrosion
combination of tensile stress and corrosion erosion.
    7. Intergranular Corrosion
corrosion occurring at joints and/or grain boundaries on the metal. Stainless steel is particularly susceptible to this type of corrosion.
    8. Microbiological Corrosion
deterioration caused directly by bacteria, fungi, algae, mold, or fungus. (Common in clay-type soils.)
    9. High-temperature Corrosion
occurs where metals are in contact with flames as in furnaces, flues, etc.

While much more can be said about the technical side of corrosion and its effects, corrosion can be an expensive challenge unless prevented.

  • Epoxy, Paint and Specialty Coatings
    Time-Tested Performance

Though epoxies are used as a sealer or protective coating, they do no do their job effectively. Epoxies do not penetrate and lock into the surface leaving room for microscopic pockets where oxidation (rusting) can occur. As seen in the picture, epoxies eventually break down and corrosion takes over.

Specialty coatings are also found to wear off in high traffic situations. Many specialty coatings simply sit on the surface and do not penetrate far enough to provide a lasting bond. The picture on the left is an example of a specialty coating peeling off a parkade floor. This parking structure has many of these patches and will eventually require more repairs and added cost.

Expensive "Specialty Coatings" or ineffective surface sealers are a thing of the past now that you can have 429 S.T.U.F.

Fast curing process - 24 hours (less down time for customers)
Long- term results a practical alternative to epoxies and specialty coatings.

    Benefits & Features

429 S.T.U.F. was originally developed as a metal sealer capable of penetrating into microscopic pores and locking itself onto the surface through expansion which occurs during curing.

This unique property of 429 S.T.U.F. also makes it an excellent sealer for concrete and wood and is being used in numerous high-traffic environments.

Use for high corrosion, high moisture, and high traffic areas Safer, high-flashpoint polyurethane Moisture - cures in 24 hours Flexible - will not crack or peel even under conditions like bending, bowing, etc. Works best in extreme environments as a primer coating on metals.

429 S.T.U.F., when applied to masonry, wood, or metal, penetrates into the pores and utilizes moisture from the surrounding atmosphere to cure.

• Primer for Metals
    Time-Tested Performance

Corrosion is a fact of life on heavy equipment and machinery. The key to preventing corrosion is to use an industrial primer on the metal to prevent exposure of the metal surface to oxidation. Oxidation occurs when metal is exposed to oxygen in the air to react chemically forming rust, etc.

Heavy equipment including salt trucks, loaders, graders, mining trucks, and other equipment are subject to high corrosion. 429 S.T.U.F. is a primer that effectively combats this oxidation process by truly sealing the metal surface. Unlike other primers and coatings, 429 S.T.U.F. creates a true seal on the metal surface which is abrasion resistant, flexible, and durable.

SEAL-IT is currently working with Dept. of Highways in Saskatchewan, Canada, where corrosion is very high. Salt spread on the roads in the colder months dramatically reduces the life of the trucks, which may require re-painting as often as every 5 years. After a period of time the equipment is so deteriorated that it is replaced - an expensive alternative to a high quality coating like 429 S.T.U.F. and the SEAL-IT service.

The use of 429 S.T.U.F. has prolonged the life of the paint and equipment and has saved them money in recoating & repair costs.

The reason why 429 S.T.U.F. is used on their equipment is because of what it does to the metal. 429 S.T.U.F., when applied, penetrates into the pores of the metal takes the moisture from the air and expands into the pores of the metal. When the product is cured, which takes about 24 hours, salts, acids, water, and any other substance cannot penetrate to the metal where serious damage occurs if not protected properly.

429 S.T.U.F. has been used by Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation (see testimonial) for 8 years and they use no other primer. 429 S.T.U.F. is applied to a sandblasted surface along with two coats of industrial urethane paint.

429 S.T.U.F. can be applied anywhere there is a high corrosion problem.
